Last July 15, the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) held an online meeting with the student organizations in Korea who will be receiving support from the Institute for this year’s activities. In attendance were PIKO President Jubert Marquez, student representatives from Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Congo, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand, and representatives from NIIED. During the meeting, the representatives discussed how COVID-19 has affected their plans for the first half of the year, and how they plan to carry out the remaining events during the latter half of the year. PIKO highlighted its outreach to the community through fundraising and mask giveaways, which garnered positive response from NIIED officers. PIKO also noted the online contents and webinars it conducted earlier this year in improving awareness about COVID-19, which will continue throughout 2020. Most student associations committed to conducting their respective events online to avoid the spread of COVID-19, including PIKO. NIIED has nonetheless pledged sponsorship to support the organizations in their upcoming projects to successfully carry out their programs in the latter half of the year.
